Safety always comes first at GIO and we continue
to have an excellent safety record. Our focus
is on safety, followed by learning and fun. While
we are proud of our record, we never let ourselves
get complacent. As people who enjoy the great
bounty that nature has bestowed upon us, team
GIO takes its individual and collective responsibility
very seriously. Our first commitment is to the
physical, psychological, and emotional safety
of every participant, and staff member, and ourselves.
We leave no stone unturned to provide a safe experience
and create an environment where people feel free
to stretch their limits. Team GIO The lynchpin
of any safety program is the people who guide
the program. All the GIO team members guiding
the program are certified professionals from Institutions
like Nehru Institute of Mountaineering and have
the best credentials in their field. They are
individuals of the highest caliber who have proven
themselves time and again.
We run a low 1:6 Staff to participant ratio. This
means that participants always have access to
and supervision by an adult leader. It also ensures
individualized attention for the participants.
Further, at every point at least 2 members from
Team GIO go through all the safety aspects of
the activities to ensure foolproof safety for
all participants. All the Guides/instructors at
team GIO are trained in First aid and CPR to address
any eventuality. Every member of Team GIO carries
basic safety kits & First aid boxes at all
times. This includes all our camps & off site
locations. While Trekking or Alpine Camping, the
expedition leaders always carry a powerful, two-way
radio with which emergency procedures may be initiated.

SAFETY IN OUTDOOR
ACTIVITIES
At the beginning of the program, all
participants go through a briefing
to familiarize them with basic safety
guidelines and to ensure a safe and
enjoyable stay at the camp. The issues
addressed are the do’s and don’ts
that include handling of bonfires,
river / water safety guidelines if
applicable, terrain and camp territory
guidelines to guard against inadvertent
errors.
The participants are given an extensive
briefing and demonstration on how
to use the equipment. Participants
are not allowed to take in an activity
until the instructor is satisfied
that they have fully grasped the basics.
When
in the outdoors, it is of
utmost importance that one
can trust ones gear. GIO uses
state-of-theart equipment
that is double-checked to
ensure quality and reliability.
We will be happy to provide
detailed information regarding
the safety equipment on request. |
